Friday, January 18, 2013

Guatemalan President Otto Pérez had a 70 percent approval rating in his first year in office, according to a survey by the Prensa Libre newspaper.

Twenty-four percent said the country’s economy has declined in the past year, citing the high cost of basic goods and unemployment rate.

The country’s population grew to 15 million in 2012, with 54 percent of residents living in poverty, according to a government report.
