This week work on the new logistics zone of Panama's Tocumen airport officially commenced. Tocumen is Central America's busiest airport.
The work is being carried out by Portugal-based Mota-Engil, which won a $14 million contract for the job. The logistics zone will also include an 18-hectares free zone that is expected to create 500 jobs.
The work on the new area is to be concluded within a year and a half.
Currently a second terminal is being built at Tocumen, which is expected to be completed early next year.
