Panama and Costa Rica are regional leaders in carbon emissions

Panama is the Central American nation that produces most carbon dioxide emissions, according to the State of the Region Project.

Costa Rica comes in second. Costa Rica seeks to achieve carbon neutrality by 2021. However, the Directorate of Climate Change has identified one of the great challenges facing the country: improving transportation.
