Panama banks have $9 billion mortgage portfolio

Credits in Panama continue to show strong growth, with mortgages standing at almost $9 billion in January this year, a 14 percent increase compared to the same month last year.

The number one bank for mortgages is Banco General, with $2.35 billion, followed by HSBC with $1.37 billion, and in third place, Caja de Ahorros, with $855 million.

Personal loans, along with car and credit card loans also grew, and together they stand at $6.26 billion.
