Panama-based Assa’s strategy for business in Central America pays big dividends

The group that includes the Assa insulrance company has become the third largest company in Panama, with a $439.9 million market capitalization.

The main contributions come from insurance operations in Panama, Costa Rica and El Salvador. The results have encouraged Assa’s management to step up the plans for regional growth that they set oiut five years ago. By the end of this year’s first quarter, Assa recorded $50.7 million in premiums, 37 percent more than in the same period of last year.
