Panama-based insurance companies rake in $1.1 billion

Panama's insurance sector registered $1.1 billion in income from premiums, the leading amount in the region.

Costa Rica came second with $794 million, followed by $620 million.

The number one company in premium income is ASSA, which is also involved in other regional markets, including Costa Rica. ASSA aims to establish itself throughout Central America.
