Panama boom transports former Casablanca into a tropical Manhattan

Panama is home to the fastest-growing economy in the Americas. Last year it expanded by 10.6 percent; this year 7 percent is expected.
This is akin to the “Brazilian miracle” of the 1970s.
Almost overnight Panama City has changed from a Casablanca-on-the-Pacific to a slice of Manhattan transplanted to the tropics.
