Panama Canal breaks tourism record

The Panama Canal broke a tourism record during the most recent fiscal year after receiving almost 1 million visitors.

More than 963,00 tourists visited the waterway during the fiscal year from October 2013 to September 2014, the highest number in the canal's 100 year history.

Seventy percent of the total were foreign tourists, and the remaining 30 percent were domestic, according to the Panama Canal Authority.
