Panama Canal delay hits waterway's finances
Thursday, April 3, 2014
The delay in the Panama Canal expansion project has hit the waterway's income and pushed the government to lower its budget.
From next year, Evergreen Marine, one of the canal's main partners, will stop its operations in the canal, said Roberto Roy, Minister of Canal Affairs.
The company is the latest to opt out of using the Panama Canal, as many shipping firms are choosing the Suez Canal, Roy added.
