Panama Canal wages bill runs to nearly $600 million

The Panama Canal, one of the country’s leading sources of income, has to face a wages bill of $569 million this year. The bill, amounts to 55 percent of all the Canal’s costs.

The annual budget for the Canal was proposed by the Panama Canal Authority and approved by the National Assembly.
