Panama City’s plans for $100 million convention center begin to take form

Friday, August 6, 2010

Plans for a convention center in Panama City are about to take form.

The company Skidmore, Owings and Merrill has already handed over the conceptual design, but its proposal has been rejected. Yesterday, the National Tourism Council made an exception to the procedure on public works by recommending a directly awarded contract to Conventional Wisdom, rather than a tender.

Investment in the new convention center is expected to cost about some $100 million.
