Panama closes in on $1 billion in acquisitions of highways

Monday, May 23, 2011

Panama plans to conclude its purchase of the Corredor Sur urban turnpike in Panama City from Mexico’s ICA which currently holds the concession.

It will also acquire the Corredor Norte, administered by Pycsa, another Mexican constructor. The total investment for the two routes will be $1 billion.

The government decided to buy the turnpikes because the concessions were costing too much.
