Panama: doing business

Effective efforts to cut red tape give Panama the region’s best business climate, according to Doing Business 2014, published by the World Bank.

With reduced volumes of paperwork, ease of transfer of property, and high levels of investment protection, Panama placed 55th in the world.

Guatemala was second in 79th position, while Honduras at 127 was worst in Central America.

Worldwide, Singapore led a list of 189 nations.

Chad came last.

The study analyzes the costs, which regulations impose on employers and businesses (figures reflect the position in the global ranking of each Central American country).
