Panama duty-free zone recorded operations of $12.6 billion last year, ministry says

Panama's duty-free zone carried out operations in 2011 valued at $12.6 billion, $3.36 billion more than in 2010, the Ministry of Economy and Finance said.

Last year registered the highest growth of re-exports in value and weight in the last five years.

The products were chiefly sold to Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Colombia.
