Panama fishing industry left swimming in shallows

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

Panama's fishing industry, which has been in decline since 2009, currently represents only 0.8 percent of the economy.

Industry leaders say that problems are the result of climate change and the high cost of inputs.

Last year through October, Panama exported $96 million in seafood, a 5.3 percent drop on the same period of 2011.
