Panama free zone gets better but still far from glory days
Tuesday, July 31, 2018
As of June of this year, commercial activity in the Colón Free Zone in Panama rose by 8.2 percent year-on-year. Even so, the result remained far short of the zone's glory days.
From January to June this year, commercial activity totaled $10.8 billion, up from $9.9 billion a year earlier. In 2015, however, the same period netted $16.8 billion-
The leading nations from which the zone imports are China, with 29 percent, the United States 20 percent and Singapore 15 percent.
