Panama government to foot the bill for fourth Canal bridge

The fourth bridge to span the Panama Canal will be built with govern ment funds and a bond issue from the National Highways Fund. Although no amount has been set, the prkoject is expected to cost about $1 billion.
The government is expected to contribute $400 million and the bond issue should raise $500 million, officials say.
