Panama hits double-digit growth for second year

For the second year in a row, Panama’s economy registered double-digit growth.

Last year, the economy grew 10.7 percent, compared to 10.8 percent in 2011, the Ministry of Finance said.

Growth was boosted mainly by large infrastructure projects such as the Canal expansion, valued at $5.25 billion, and the Metro public transport system in the capital city.
