Nine companies are in the bidding to choose the financial manager of Metrobus, Panama City's new urban transportation system. The winning company will be responsible for developing and deploying infotech systems, including card payments, logistics and accounting. The $269 million contract for construction of the Metro was signed last week with the Colombian-Panamanian consortium, Mass Transit Panama (MTP). The financial manager will operate independently of MTP.

The date set for the auction of the best-value offer is August 20. The financial management contract is worth $15 million a year. The companies bidding are: Assenda, Sonda, ACS Solution, UTRT Cali, Integrated Security Systems, Angel Com, Fujitec Brazil, Asia and Tecnasa Net.
