Panama is a ‘mini-Dubai’ lured by major contracts

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

French companies have been growing as major investors of Panama, attracted as large public works contracts.

About 20 French companies and more than 50 Panamanian firms that are related with them have invested $700 million in contracts in recent years, and the French embassy forecasts the amount to increase to $1 billion.

“Panama is a mini-Miami or a mini-Dubai,” said Marco Connti, president of Alstom in Panama.
