Panama is region’s most competitive nation

Monday, September 5, 2011

High birth rates, long life expectancies, democracy and schooling are the driving forces that make Costa Rica competitive.

But Costa Rica is being beaten by Panama, which has more economic stability, better infrastructure and access to technology for its citizens, according to a study by the Competitiveness Institute of the Aden Business School.

“We don’t say Costa Rica is perfect, but it does have certain advantages over other countries, as well as fewer problems than El Salvador, for example,” said Alejandro Trapé, the institute’s director.
