Panama Metro mega-tender attracts international heavyweights

Four consortiums presented proposals to fulfill the contract for the design and construction of the third line of Panama's Metro.

The bids come from Spain's Acciona and Power China; Spain's FCC Construcción, and Cicsa and Carso from Mexico; Korea's Hyundai Engineering and Posco; and China Railway Group.

A commission has been appointed to evaluate the technical proposals. The economic bids will not be revealed until after the technical bids have been fully studied, which could take about two months, La Prensa reports in Spanish.
