Panama mulls $325 million project for plants to produce diesel fuel from rubbish

Panama’s government is pondering the possibility of using rubbish to produce synthetic diesel for use by vehicles and power plants.

Talks are well on the way involving the government and some municipal authorities for the purchase of five plants at $65 million each.

German technology would be used by the Alphakat company. The rubbish to be used by the project would include plastics, paper, rubber, wax, dirty oil and hydraulic liquids.
