Panama named best place in the world to retire

Panama was named best place for retirement in the world in International Living Magazine's 2014 Global Retirement Index.

The Central American nation is particularly attractive to U.S. retirees, as English is widely spoken and the American dollar is one of its official currencies.

The magazine emphazised the country's pension program, which offers discounts on real estate loans, entertainment and medical expenses.
