Panama needs to diversify energy sources
Friday, April 25, 2014
Panama should diversify its energy sources to avoid situations such as the two consecutive years of shortages in hydroelectric plants due to drought, said Victor Urrutia, former administrator of the country's public services authority.
Hydroelectric plants account for 57 percent of Panama's energy consumption.
Thermal plants come in second place, with 37 percent, and finally wind farms, with 6 percent.
