Wednesday, January 8, 2014

A combination of comfort, natural beauty and a variety of benefits, make Panama the number one destination in the world for retirees from the United States and Canada, according to the global index published this month by International Living.

Panama moved up one position, compared to last year.

Costa Rica came second in the region, while placing fourth worldwide.

The index includes all the Central American countries, except for El Salvador.

There is a total of 24 countries in the index, with Cambodia coming last.

The survey takes into account aspects such as climate, real estate, cost of living, ease of integration for foreigners, and availability of healthcare (figures in brackets indicate the position of the Central American countries, along with Mexico and Colombia, in the global ranking).

2. Costa Rica (4)
