Panama’s fame as a center for international banking was further strengthened by the nation’s regulator when it approved five more licenses in the first six months of the year.
The banks concerned are a mix of foreign and Panamanian capital: Banco Prival, Banca Privada D’Andorra, Banco Lafise Panamá, Banco Internacional de Perú, and Banco La Hipotecaria.
Panama has two government-owned banks and 47 with general licenses, as well as 31 permitted to use only international operations, and 15 representative offices.
