Panama's economy grows 6.2 percent

Panama's economy grew 6.2 percent in the first half of the year, compared with the same period last year, the Finance and Economy Ministry said.

The figure represents a gross domestic product of $17.31 billion, $1 billion more than the $16.31 billion from the same period last year.

Among the best performing sectors during the first six months of 2014 were fishing, with a 36 percent growth, construction with 15 percent growth and mining with a 12 percent growth.
