Wednesday, May 11, 2011

The government of Panama responded to critics of its plan to build a financial tower in the grounds of the former US embassy.

The minister of Economy and Finance, Alberto Vallarino, said that the twoer is likely to cost $200 million, but only from private-sector funds.

Vallarino said that the project would improve standards in the area, where skyscrapers abound. It would he added, be an icon of the country and the only one of its kind in the region.
