Panama’s insurance industry is booming but law on the sector awaits a decade

Panama’s insurance industry reported 16.28 percent in growth of premium income in the first four months of the year.

But in some ways, the industry is out of step with its equivalents in the rest of the region.

An updated law to govern the sector has been awaited for 10 years, leaving the sector lagging behind Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Costa Rica.
