Panama’s listing as union rights violator seen as threat trade accord with the US

Panama’s dealings with trade unions had been a hot potato for the United States and was frequently mentioned in early talks on a free trade agreement.
It then seemed to disappear from the list of issues facing the ratification of the agreement.
Now Panama’s appearance on a list of countries that violate the rights of unions has threatened the approval of the agreement, say Panamanian labor officials.
