Panama’s Petroleum plan

Panama is analyzing potencial oil exploration in the Caribbean, especially in areas near Darien, Bocas del Toro and Azuero.

Research on existing sources of hydrocarbons, which began in 2010, has advanced by 60%, and by next March Panama could tender the first few blocks of exploration and development rights.

There is also the possibility that Panama refines oil for domestic consumption and even import.
