Panama’s robust real-estate market sparks boom in unqualified agents and brokers
Tuesday, July 13, 2010

Despite the economic slump, Panama’s growth in construction has boosted a boom in unqualified real-estate brokers.
Currently some 3,000 brokers and agents are qualified by the ministry of Industry and Commerce. In practice, however, about 5,000 are involved in selling projects in Panama. Many are not based in Panama.
Accredited brokers claim that pirate agents are creating uncertainty among potential clients and damaging Panama’s image as a responsible place to do business.
