Panama sets an ultimatum to miner Petaquilla Gold

Panama’s ministry of Trade and Industry has warned representatives of Canadian miner Petaquilla Gold that they have 180 days in which to remedy their shortcomings in contractual obligations.

The government says that the company well behind schedule on maintenance of its mine, owes substantial royalties and has failed to meet contributions to its workers for the state social security institution.
