Panama sets standards for call centers

Panama's National Assembly passed a law that regulates call centers, meeting standards of fiscal transparency set by the ORVD and the European Union.

Last year, the European Union included Panama in its blacklist for failing to update its legislation on the sector for a few weeks.

The new bill lists the fiscal regime that is being applied, along with immigration and labor-law requirements for people and companies that operate call centers. Some 9,000 people in Panama work for call centers.
