Panama sets target of some $2 billion a year for mining exports

Within two years, Panama’s mining sector is due to contribute about 9.5 percent of the nation’s economic output when copper production begins at the huge Minera Panamá mine.

The mine is owned by Canada’s First Quantum Minerals, which lies some 120 kilometers west of Panama City.
