Panama slips deeper into energy crisis

Panama’s energy crisis is getting worse. The government has ordered schools and universities to close for three days in an attempt to save power.

The problem stems from a delay in the rainy season, causing the country’s hydroelectric plants to reduce their production.

The government has announced the possibility of rationing energy if the problem continues, while farmers have reported deaths in their herda and delays in harvests due to the lack of rain.
