Panama to invite bids for oil exploration blocks

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Panama’s government expects to invite bids for a first round of oil exploration blocks.

Juan Manuel Urriola, the Energy secretary, reckons that a project to establish Panama’s oil potential has achieved 60 percent of completion.

In April of last year, the Panamanian president, Ricardo Martinelli, announced that Panama would launch oil exploration in the jungle of Darien province, across the border with Colombia.
