Panamanians have more Catholics

In Central America, Panama is the country where the Catholic Church has the highest percentage of followers, according to the latest data from the Pew Research Center’s Global Christianity Report.

Eight out of ten Panamanian Christians are Catholic, putting the country in position 52 worldwide among a list of 232 countries. In the region, Costa Rica is in second place.

The Central American country with the fewest Catholics isthmus is Honduras, where there is a greater number of the population is Protestant.

The world list is headed by the Vatican, while Turkmenistan is last.

The study, prepared in 2010 and updated this year, focuses on the size, distribution and evolution of the Catholic religion in the world.
