Payroll questions from Ohio State to be stopped from Costa Rica call center

Friday, August 20, 2010

Controversy over Ohio state call-center work being outsourced to El Salvador prompted Ohio State University to end use of a call center in Costa Rica for some payroll-related questions.

The university has contracted with St. Louis-based TALX Corp. since 2000 to handle payroll-processing questions from employees, and the company has sent some overflow calls to Costa Rica.

Officials in the university's human resources department spoke with the company this week and received assurances that the practice would end.
