Pellas of Nicaragua and Guatemala’s Pantaleón sweeten Honduras

Monday, November 29, 2010

Foreign investment has reaped benefits for the sugar industry of Honduras in terms of more exports and electricity generation.

Some five years ago, sugar production came to 6 million quintals. In the 2010-2011 harvest,  output is reckoned to be 9.5 million.

The Pellas industrial group from Nicaragua and Guatemala’s Pantaleón have invested heavily in southern and western Honduras.
