Pension system disaster revealed at Costa Rican social security system. Cash squandered on staff and equipment

Costa Rica’s social security system is immersed in a growing scandal. Cash has been squandered on equipment and software as well as by an excessive number of hirings.

The anomalies between 2008 and last year generated a 60 percent increase on spending on pensions. Although the number of staff was swollen to excess, waiting times continued to increase.
