Peru wants broader trade accord with El Salvador

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

The free trade agreement being negotiated between Peru and El Salvador should have fewer exclusions and become a comprehensive agreement, Peru's Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, José Luis Silva said.

He recalled a few weeks ago he talked to his counterpart from El Salvador, and both expressed their interest in restarting the negotiations between the two countries, which were suspended earlier this year.

"We will wait for the Salvadoran proposal, we believe it is important to proceed with the deal, but we have some needs that must be met before moving forward," Silva told Andina news agency.
