Plans for big new Costa Rican airport slammed into freezer

When Costa Rica's Public Works and Transport Ministry announced a multi-million dollar investment to improve the nation’s airports, one location was notably absent.

The ministry will dedicate more than $160 million to Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport in Liberia, Guanacaste, and other airfields throughout the country, but the institution is not allocating funds for the new Metropolitan International Airport that was planned for the Alajuela canton of Orotina, the Tico Times reports.
