Plea for Costa Rica tariff freedom in cellphones

Cellular phone tariffs in Costa Rica should be free of any regulations, if the country wishes to increase investment in the sector, said Pablo Bello, head of staff at the Ibero-American Association of Telecommunication Companies.

In Costa Rica, these tariffs are regulated by the telecommunications regulator, who dictates how much consumers will pay for Internet, cellular and other related services.

In practically all countries where there is an open telecoms market, no government body regulates prices.
