Pollo Tropical opens first Costa Rican franchise outlet

Miami-based grilled chicken restaurant Pollo Tropical opened its first franchised restaurant in the main square of San José, Costa Rica.

The restaurant chain also plans to open its second Costa Rica restaurant at the end of this month, as well as planning to expand into Canada, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and the Caribbean.

The Costa Rica franchise group, Chicken Tropical Service, a subsidiary of Carrols Restaurant Group, is the largest Burger King franchisee based on number of restaurants.
