Protests affect crude production in Colombia

Monday, June 17, 2013

Colombia's state-run oil company Ecopetrol Sunday suspended crude production in oil-rich southwest Catatumbo.

The suspension came after violent clashes between farmers and security forces in the town of Tibu.

Ninety percent of pumping and extraction operations had been suspended due to the disturbance, said the superintendent of operations in the region, Harold Paez.
