Public-private partnerships are key in region

Public-private partnerships are key to boosting development in the region, according to business leaders and government officials gathered at the fourth World Business Summit in Guatemala.

Guatemala has become a world-class example of successful implementation of public-private partnerships, said Henry Kronfle, president of the Latin American Industrial Association, LAIA, one of the organizer's of the event.

Sergio de la Torre, Guatemala's Economy Minister, added that his country is currently developing large projects through partnerships, such as a dry canal, improvement of ports, airports and highways, that will help boost economic growth to 4 percent this year.
