Queiroz Galvao launches construction of $1.1 billion hydro plant in Nicaragua

Queiroz Galvao of Brazil announced that work will begin in March on the construction of the $1.1 billion Tumarin hydroelectric plan on Nicaragua’s Caribbean coast.
Tumarin is scheduled to have a capacity of 253 megawatts.
Planners say the introduction of the plant, which is due in the final quarter of 2014, will save Nicaragua $117 million a year.
