Red tape in Customs is blight on Nicaragua trade

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

Red tape in Nicaragua's Customs continues to be an impediment to free trade in the region.

Transport companies claim that bureaucracy adds 38 percent to the total costs of logistics in Nicaragua.

The biggest problem is encountered in goods that are imported from outside of Central America. Customs clearance in these cases takes 24 hours or more.
